About the Author
Zeng Fanzhi (b. 1964) currently lives and works in Beijing. His diverse painting practice has established him as one of the world?s most celebrated contemporary artists. Reflecting the spirit of his time, his art shows a strong interest in both portraiture and abstraction as a response to his self-exploration of individual experiences and emotions. Constantly redefining and reinventing his painting practices, he has produced a rich oeuvre of works ? including the notable Hospital and Meat series, followed by the Mask, Portrait, and Abstract Landscape series ? with many aesthetic breakthroughs and an apparent co-existence of contradictory languages in his creative process. His works have been exhibited worldwide, and are collected by various museums and private collectors.
Editor, Gladys Chung is a specialist and Asian Art consultant with over 10-year experience in major auction houses including Christie?s, Poly Auction and others. She is Hong Kong and Beijing-based director for the Fanzhi Foundation for Art and Education.
The Fanzhi Foundation for Art and Education, founded by Zeng Fanzhi in 2011, is a registered non-profit organization that supports the development of modern and contemporary art by organizing research and curatorial programs, art publications and exhibitions.
